Birds of Maryland & Delaware" by Stan Tekiela (Adventure Publications, $31.95, 346 pages) "

Bet you didn't know that there are more than 800 bird species in North America, 390 of which have been reported in Delaware. Or that bird watching is the most popular spectator sport in the country.

In "Birds of Maryland and Delaware," Stan Tekiela highlights 336 of our avian friends. The book includes pictures, interesting facts and possible locations to sight each bird. It also yields tips for bird watching and how to identify the species.

The birds are grouped according to their color. Birds that are mostly black are in the beginning of the book, while birds that have prominent yellow are at the end. The package includes a compact disc of 137 bird sounds to help the reader correctly identify his sightings.

...this is a great book for birdwatchers
